BIRD SCHOLAR Free Edition provides a highly structured environment for learning common bird songs.
Three page views allow the user to inspect regional libraries of bird songs, learn songs through multiple choice interactions, and test the accuracy of identification by taking a 20 question BIRD SCHOLAR exam. Separate libraries can be selected for Birds of the Eastern, Midwestern, and Western United States, and for habitats that select forest/woodland, grassland, marsh, and water birds.
Detailed instructions can be found on the BIRD SCHOLAR website (www.oldcarriagebrewery.com/birdscholar.html).
The app is a particularly powerful tool for teaching bird songs to young children, which we believe is related to a childs exceptional ability to learn human languages.
